Checklist

Presented before you is a very thorough checklist of Syd's career. No doubt,
there may be errors, and we encourage all to E-MAIL
in corrections. These checklists on this site were compiled from my own collection, with
help from various sources, including Dr. Michael J. Vassallo, and were checked vs. the
Grand Comics Database. The format can be explained
thusly : you have the title, then company name on top. Below is the Issue #. If the
cover is the only thing done on the book by said artist, the Issue # will be followed by
the word 'cover' BEFORE the date. If the artist did some interior work, the Issue # will
be followed by either a number denoted the number of stories, or if it is just one story,
the number will represent the page count. In the brackets, you have the listing for the
cover month and year. Following this will be notes, which go into greater depth as to
what said artist did inside the issue in question. Any question marks mean I am unaware
or unsure of a given month, year, or unsure as to whether the artist did said work. As you
are aware, a great deal of work back in the 1930s-50s was never signed, so this leaves
SOME of the work open for debate. Frankly, since I put up this checklist in '99, I've seen so many examples credited to Shores, but have not been, and plenty that haven't been that should have, so PLEASE take the '40s listings below with a MAJOR grain of salt. I'll fix them one day. Please, when mailing in corrections, DO NOT go by what is printed in the Overstreet Price Guide. Besides generally being incorrect, Mr. Overstreet allegedly used to deliberately print false information to ''protect'' his copyright. Now, onward...
