Syd was still firing on all cylinders during the '50s. With the
heroes gone, Syd moved from genre to genre with ease. While Syd was free
to work with other companies during this decade, the bulk of his
work was with Atlas.
The BLACK RIDER was a signature Western character for Syd, as was his
work on the first ten issues of TWO-GUN KID. But Syd could also handle
war action, such as NAVY ACTION and NAVY COMBAT. Jungle action was another
mark of success for Syd, whether it be on JANN OF THE JUNGLE, LORNA THE
JUNGLE GIRL, JUNGLE ACTION or JUNGLE TALES.
But romance was a speciality for Syd. There are TONS of ignored Atlas
