During Alex's time at Standard, he took to signing certain covers with the
pseudonym ''Xela''; simply a reverse of his first name. Influenced by artist Fred
Dahme, who handed out lessons to Alex, in exchange for brush cleaning duties,
Alex added another notch to his artistic belt. While signing 'Xela' to covers may have been
a way to differentiate his Timely work from his Better/Standard material, what it
earned Alex was the title ''King Of The Airbrush''. These coves allowed him to
work on color, using the same airbrush he used for most of his career, and the
