The editors at Better gave him the cover to STARTLING STORIES (Sep '39)
once they had tapped Alex's fascination with science fiction. This is his first
sci-fi cover. Unfortunately, his signature was chopped during printing. A pretty
crude beginning, but a beginning nonetheless.
