THE
ALEX SCHOMBURG
SCIENCE FICTION GALLERY

Hugo Gernsback, the man who brought Alex into the magazine illustration world back in the 1920s, tried to re-boot himself in the science-fiction genre with the magazine, SCIENCE-FICTION PLUS, in 1952 (the first issue shown here has a March '53 cover date). Alex did half the covers for this magazine before it expired. On your right is the cover to the December 1953 issue of AMAZING STORIES. Alex's speciality of other-worldly machinery came into heavy play in this genre.
