In 1923, the four artistic Schomburg siblings opened up their own art studio,
with clients such as Westinghouse, G.E. and Sanka Coffee. When the brothers split
in 1928, Alex went to work for the National Screen Service, producing film trailers.
Here is where Alex started to learn his airbrush trade. Below are two examples of
the lantern slides Alex produced for New York theatres. Clearly, these illustrations
show Alex's phenomenal abilities when rendering landscape and architecture in amazing
detial. Alex worked for the N.S.S. until 1944. The company closed the art department
and Alex was let go. WWII had made it impossible for the company to get film stock for
its trailers.
